Description

A CWDM filter is a passive optical component primarily used for multiplexing (combining) or demultiplexing (separating) optical signals of different wavelengths, thereby enabling simultaneous transmission of multiple high-speed data streams over a single optical fiber. It is a core component of Wavelength Division Multiplexing systems.

An FWDM filter typically consists of three ports: Common Port, Pass Port, and

Reflection Port.

When a mixed optical signal enters the Common Port, if the signal contains a wavelength corresponding to the filter's operating range, the specific wavelength will be output from the Pass Port (filtering), while the remaining wavelengths are reflected out from the Reflection Port. This process is known as demultiplexing (splitting). Conversely, when light enters from the Pass Port and Reflection Port, both beams are combined and output from the Common Port — a process known as multiplexing (combining).

Fholink's CWDM filters are based on mature multi-cavity dielectric thin-film technology for optical filtering. They offer excellent wavelength stability and are hermetically sealed in a steel tube package, ensuring high reliability.
