Toutiao Data Center Interconnection Project

Project Background

Our customer, X Information Technology Co., Ltd., is a leading data center service provider in East China, with abundant data center resources in the Yangtze River Delta region. Toutiao is one of its key clients. At the end of 2025, just before the Spring Festival, Toutiao experienced a surge in data volume and urgently needed to upgrade the original 100G link between two data centers in East China to 400G. Therefore, X Information Technology Co., Ltd. approached our company to provide an optical transmission solution as soon as possible.

The two data centers are approximately 66 km apart, connected by two bare fiber cores, and currently use a pair of 100G 80 km optical modules for direct connection.

Business Challenges

1. The existing link carries live data traffic and cannot be arbitrarily taken offline for reconnection.

2. Short timeline and heavy workload – only 8 days to finalize the solution, prepare equipment, and perform the cutover.

3. The equipment must support future expansion to at least Terabit-level transmission.

Fholink Solution

1. Adopt Fholink's FH-DCI6500 WDM optical transmission system solution.

2. The Fholink solution achieves single-channel 400G transmission, using only one channel to meet the customer's immediate goal while leaving ample channels for future expansion.

3. Deploy EDFA optical amplification and OLP optical line protection to provide sufficient link margin and automatic failover protection.
